piThe monastery is in process of constructing a "Cross of St Benedict" on top of a hill overlooking the monastery and the valley of Pachacamac. When finished it will be thirteen metres high by seven broad.It should be finished toward the end of next week. The engineer is building it at his own cost after the Peruvian airforce airlifted the materials by helicopter, including the exercise in a training programme for its pilots and thus doing the service for free. The project has proved far more difficult than it appeared to be when we first discussed it; and we are all happy to see the cross growing before our eyes.
